#21 - The Thermals - Now We Can See (Kill Rock Stars; April 7, 2009)
Now We Can See is the fourth album from Portland, Oregon’s favorite indie pop-punk band, The Thermals. This album captures The Thermals raw energy and brilliant melodies in such a sound manner. I have to admit this isn’t my favorite album by them, but I did find myself coming back to it a lot this year because it’s so damn catchy.

GEORGE: Hey. How come I didn’t get a Christmas card? Eeeverybody else got one. Jerry got one, Kramer got one. I thought we were good friends. I don’t get a Christmas card. I don’t get it.
ELAINE: You want a Christmas card? You want a Christmas card? All right here. Here’s your Christmas card.Posted on December 11, 2009 via naturally. with 113 notes

#22 - Dead Man’s Bones - Dead Man’s Bones (Anti-; October 6, 2009)
If someone told me a year ago that Ryan Gosling was going to release an album filled with vaudeville, doo-wop inspired songs, I probably wouldn’t believe them. Still, that’s just what he did, along with close friend Zach Shields and the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir. Big thumbs up to Dead Man’s Bones for surprising most people this year!

I haven’t seen the movie yet, I know it received mixed reviews, but I’m going to go ahead and start reading The Wild Things by Dave Eggers.

#23 - Those Darlins - S/T (Oh Wow Dang; July 7, 2009)
Those Darlins created an infectious album that blends country, rock, and pop on their cunning debut. This young group from Murfreesboro, Tennessee have such a great knack for writing songs with memorable hooks and wonderful melodies about boys, booze, and food, that you’ll want to sing-a-long and buy a round of drinks for all your friends at the bar.
